What do we want most of all for our children? Do we want them to be successful and prosper? Do we want them to be happy?
Sure, we want all of these things for our children and their children. But we also want more than that for them.

One of the many things we chase after as human beings is joy. I admit I seek joy just as much as the next person. Yet, as I’ve gotten older, and hopefully wiser, I have come to learn that I have sought out joy in the wrong places. No, I’m not saying I’ve sought out “friends (or joy) in low places!” But I have through the years looked to things or people for my joy.
You can’t find your joy in others. Other things, other places, or other people. If I only had this house, that car, or wore the right clothing. Or if I could go to this vacation spot, live in this area or have that job. If I could only marry this person, have that kind of family, hang out with those people.
What if you don’t feel happy today? I understand.
I have felt unhappy before.
I remember my first Thanksgiving at home without my children’s father living with us. It didn’t feel like a happy time.
I have however, felt happiness as well. The next year, choosing to not sit home without him, my children and I headed to Florida to spend Thanksgiving with my parents and family. I made a choice to find joy beyond (more…)
Hello I am posting from Naples, Florida. I am at the beach for the week on vacation with my sister. What a great day to be able to wake up and know God loves us. We can do this everyday! I love the verse Psalm 90:14, which says, “Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.” If you have received a “Joy Beyond” book signed from me, this is the verse I write to everyone who buys the book. This verse reminds us that God satisfies, and He loves us with an unfailing love, that only He can provide. We are given one life to live and we may sing for joy until the end of it!
