Thankful For Freedom

I’m thankful for freedom. Independence. The liberation from slavery or the power of another. Our creator gives three inalienable rights:

  • The freedom to pursue life
  • The freedom to pursue liberty
  • The pursuit of happiness.

The Declaration of Independence states: “…We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness…”

For hundreds of years, brave men and women fought to win and continue to fight to preserve our country’s freedom. I’m grateful for their selfless sacrifice.

As I reflect today on that sacrifice, I hold even greater gratitude for the price paid by my Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave His own life to be crucified on the cross to ensure my freedom for all eternity. (more…)

If the Son Sets You Free, You Shall Be Free Indeed

Imagine never being able to experience abundant life, but having no awareness that you missed anything.


“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’ They answered him, ‘We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, “You will become free”?’


“Jesus answered them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.’ ” John 8:31-36 (ESV)

I saw a movie a while back called “The Village.”
