Have you ever been so upset with your circumstances that you yelled at God?
I remember a friend asked me once, “Haven’t you ever had a temper tantrum with God?” I was a little shocked at that question. Wouldn’t anger with God show irreverence? Didn’t Job do that when he reached his limit?
In one period of my life, trial after trial assaulted me from every direction. In between each one, I seldom had time to catch my breath.

Guard Your Heart!

If you have been a Christ follower for any length of time, you’ve probably heard the phrase, “Guard your heart.” Proverbs 4:23 admonishes us to take care with what we allow into our hearts because “everything you do flows from it” (Pr 4:23b NIV).
Have you ever wondered how you are to guard your heart, is it really that important?
When Jesus was preparing his disciples for his impending death and burial, his first words were “Do not let your hearts be troubled” (John 14:1 NIV). The disciples were about to undergo an incredible test of faith. Within a matter of days, Jesus would be scourged, crucified, and dead. Yet, His first words of counsel to the disciples were a simple command: “Do not let your hearts be troubled.”
On a daily basis it seems as if we are assaulted by pain, death, stress, ill health, unfair situations, and hatefulness. It can seem a never ending struggle to keep our hearts from being overcome by (more…)
