When there are time delays in our lives, like Mary and Martha we often cannot discern what God is doing.

“Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. When he heard that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.”  John 11:5-6

There was a two-day delay before Jesus said to His disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.” The story of Lazarus was a display of God’s power over death.

Delta Airlines considers me a “Million Miler.” The term is used for frequent flyers. Air travel was a constant in my life for many years. Time delays were a part of a road warrior’s baggage. They were never convenient and always out of my control. Weather, mechanical problems or the delayed arrival of airline personnel could keep planes from departing on time. I learned to trust that airline staff knew best. They knew whether or not circumstances would permit safe flying, and if they had enough competent personnel on board and on the ground.

When you allow yourself to travel in a metal tube that takes you thousands of miles into the air and deposits you hundreds of miles from home, you must be able to trust the decision makers. They know a great deal more than you about air travel.

God has taught me to also trust in divine delays. — Barbara Haile Click To Tweet

There have been many in my life: prayers that did not seem to be answered, a son in prison, illness, family, financial matters, sorrows and more. God alone knew what needed to be accomplished in me, in others and in the circumstances.

I have time tables that I want things to work in, but God does not operate on a time schedule. He created time, just as He created you and me.

When, not if, you find yourself in a divine delay, can you put your trust in Him?

God may not accommodate your schedule, but you can be assured He is working to get your flight ready. Your life Pilot is in charge and will let you know when it is time for arrival and departure.
