Have you ever felt like the only way you would be accepted by others, and perhaps God, would be if you were perfect?
This is where I hung out for much of my adult life.
“But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners.” (Romans 4:5, NLT)
That’s exactly what the enemy wants us to think. He cunningly whispers in our weakest moments:
- God can’t and won’t love you as long as you are imperfect.
- You should be ashamed of yourself. You would be rejected if others knew how you mess up.
- You’ll never get into heaven with as many mistakes as you’ve made!
