Today I am excited to introduce you to a friend of mine named Tammy Whitehurst. I met Tammy at the She Speaks Conference in July 2014. I knew the minute I saw her and saw her joy I liked her. You just know when you click with somebody. She was bubbling with joy from the bounce in her step to the smile from ear to ear on her face. She showed her hospitality to me at the front door of the hotel while opening the door for me to get my luggage in the very first day of the conference and I immediately hit it off with her. So, please help me welcome Tammy as she shares a bit of her sweetness with us today.

Godly Friendships
by Tammy Whitehurst

A gift from the Lord.

We cry with them, laugh with them, pray with them, and love them.

Godly friends are people who make life better simply by showing up and being there. They make us smile with their wit and wisdom. They are strong, bold, and courageous. They are people who change the world because their driving force is to glorify God in all they do.

No matter what life serves up, the side dish is always conversation and support. And though we rarely solve life’s biggest challenges, we always find a way to end the day with a giggle and grin.

God did not give us friends to see through us, He gave us friends to see us through.

Here’s to friendship! (Insert loud applause.)

“Father God, I thank You for my friends. I ask that You would bless them as much as You use them to bless me. Whatever issue they are struggling with, may they feel Your presence so strongly that they have no doubt You are with them. Lift their chins and wipe their tears. Calm their anxieties and fears with Your healing hands and sing over them as You fill them with courage, boldness, and joy for the day ahead. If they wept last night, assure them joy comes in the morning and the joy of the Lord is their strength. In Jesus name I pray…Amen.”

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17

Please leave a comment for Tammy showing your friendly hospitality.

Tammy’s bio:
Rarely do we hear funny and message with a meaning in the same sentence, much less used to describe the same person, but Tammy Whitehurst is anything but a typical speaker. She was a middle school teacher for 16 years before bringing her messages of hope, joy, and laughter to audiences on the stage. Her articles have been published in LifeWay’s HomeLife, Christianity Today, Seek magazine, Evangel, Charm, Mature years, Peace and several other publications. People describe her as a Hoot with a capital “H” and love the realness that she shares and her ability to connect with the heart of her audiences. When asked what her favorite scripture is she will reply “Nehemiah 8:10, because the joy of the Lord is my strength!”
