Overwhelmed? Overlooked? Overcome! Do you believe you can? “The Little Engine That Could” written by Watty Piper was a well-known children’s story which tells the story of a little engine that had to pull a long train of freight cars. The little engine said “I can’t; that is too much of a pull for me.” But, after excuses were made, the little engine decided to pull the freight. As it started up the grade the little engine started puffing and saying “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.” When the little engine reached the top, the load started getting easier as it headed down the grade, it was then congratulating itself by saying, “I thought I could, I thought I could.”

Ask God to help you not give up. Ask God to help you “think you can”. As we start a new month, the month of May, our lives get so much busier. We are drawing close to the end of the school year. Won’t you be glad when the afternoons of homework are over? We have exams to study for, end of the year parties to prepare for and graduation announcements to be written. Our calendar fills up quickly and we wonder how in the world will we get it all done.

I don’t know about you, but I have so much ahead of me. We could very easily lose our focus on what’s the most important, by getting loaded down with things that will pass and be forgotten. So, what are the important things? Where do you place your priority?
God, wants to be first in your life. After all, He is the one that will give you the strength to handle what lies ahead of you. He will help you carry those heavy burdens and tasks.

I want to be a godly and loving wife to the man whom God has brought me. I pray I will be selfless and put his needs above my own. I want to bless him and my children. I can’t do this on my own. I need God’s help! I want to raise my children to be all God has called them to be. God has given us such a great responsibility when He has given us children to raise. With young people come, time-consuming ballgames, programs, homework, preparation of meals, and so much more. What a privilege. What a blessing!

God has called us to serve Him. This isn’t IF you have time, you will serve Him, this is a command. I think I can, I think I can!! God will give you the strength to do the tasks in front of you. Just be available and obedient. What a privilege. What a blessing!

Oh, and we can’t forget the jobs or career God has given us. This also is a priority. The man who doesn’t work, doesn’t eat!! That’s scripture, you know. God will make a way and if He has blessed you with work, be thankful. Sometimes, we get tired and start grumbling, but remember, God will give you the strength. What a privilege. What a blessing!

So as we approach this new month, remember summer is right around the corner! Seek the One that will give you the strength to climb that hill that is in front of you, saying “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can”. As you start down the other side you will look back and say “I thought I could, I thought I could!”

Dear Lord,
Thank you for all your blessings! Thank you for all the privileges that we have been given! Give us the strength to face the hills we have to climb. Help us remember you are climbing it with us. We can’t give up now! We know our work will be rewarded and we thank you Lord. I lift my sweet friends up to you. I pray you will bless them today and everyday with your harvest of blessings. In Jesus name I pray! Amen

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”(Galatians 6:9 NLT)

“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” (2 Chronicles 15:7 NIV)

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 NLT)
