The old slogan, “Easy does it” reminds me of some days in my past when I was in the
midst of some hard circumstances. I had to learn how to handle hard situations without
it getting me all frazzled, upset and angry. We all know and love people who are
sometimes, just downright hard to deal with, they seem to be “drama magnets”. I
learned; during this difficult time, just how important it is to make sure I was taking care
of myself. I also learned; I can’t control someone else’s actions, no matter how hard I
try. I am, however, responsible for my own actions, not only to God but to those around
me.
Sometimes, we have to detach ourselves from the situation or person. Detach means
to disengage, disconnect, or to be removed from someone or something. We can
detach sometimes just by walking away, taking a walk, taking a bath or doing anything
that calms you down and gives you a much needed break. For me, many times, I would
relax in the bathtub with the lights dimmed and all the candles I had burning. I
remember a good friend telling me “Brenda, go take you a bath and try to relax.” It was
my own little spa, where the candlelight brought peace to my darkness. The problems
didn’t change, but it would give me the “time out” I needed to help me face tough times ahead.

Candles burning
Have you ever had to just take a deep breath and exhale? Breathe in…breathe out! Sometimes, we have to take time to try to get a different perspective on things. We have to make sure we don’t say something we will later regret. When we are dealing with drama, or things don’t seem to be going our way, and we have too much to do with not enough time to do it in; we need to ask God to help us see His perspective on things. We need to ask Him to give us strength to handle the task. God wants us to depend on Him and see people through His eyes. He loves us all, even the co-worker, friend, or family member causing the drama. Ask God to help you
calm down and relax. He loves you!

Next time there is just too much drama, remember the slogan “Easy Does It”!!
